BradW, sorry for late reply, but yes, the nuts welded into the muffler mounting straps are larger than the threads on the hourglass mounts that I had as well.
My hourglass mounts (that I got somewhere years ago) had long enough and small enough dia studs that would fit right through the welded-on muffler nuts and I could use an appropriate nut, lock washer and flat washer to attach.
However, I think your solution of bolts and rubber washers serves the same purpose.
Also, I have just ordered a new set of exhaust pipes from Sonett Club Sweden. My manifold was good, but the pipes heading back to the mufflers were shot. I have had good luck with CSS parts before and am looking forward to receiving my new system.
