I have the same MSS system and DID have the same problem -- liked the sound of the MSS but wanted to take the edge off it. My solution only cost about $20:

-- Measured outside diameter of the rear part of the exhaust pipe
-- Went to a tractor supply store and bought a Ford tractor muffler with the right O.D. to fit. They just had a bunch of mufflers hanging on a rack, so all I did was poke through them until I found the smallest one with the right pipe size.
-- Measured the length of the tractor muffler, hacksawed a corresponding length off the end of my MSS pipe, and clamped the tractor muffler on the end. Done.

The type of muffler I got is technically a 'resonator' -- if you look in one end, you see straight through to the other, rather than there being baffles and chambers etc. to cause back pressure. The way it reduces the sound level is that the interior pipe has holes and fins that reflect some of the sound waves back so they cancel each other. It takes the sting out of the noise but has no performance effect at all, as far as I can tell.

You might be able to find a straight-through auto muffler that would do the same thing, but the advantages of the tractor muffler were: (a) pipe was the right size; (b) diameter very small so easy to fit under the car; (c) cheap!!!

If you want something more "official" or don't live near any tractor stores, MSS also sells a somewhat quieter system with a second rear muffler, and I think they'll sell you the second muffler separately as an add-on.
