Hi all,
If you are building a new exhaust system and performance is your goal, with a reasonable noise level, then try this.
I had Dr.Gas build a exhaust extracting Y pipe. It uses the stock diameter pipe from the engine, expanding to a 2" pipe exiting. First you cut the down pipe as it leaves the pan. (note, muffler shops work best)The Y pipe tucks up nicely in front of the oil pan. the Y pipe is not a true Y as it sets to one side of the car. The pipe exiting the Y is a 2" that a cherry bomb type resonator is installed somewhere in-line. I then had a SpinTech muffler I previosly had built, installed where the stock muffler goes. Exiting the muffler I put a down turn tip on. The small diameter stock "header pipes" create enough back pressure for low end torqe, but the extractor Y and larger pipe and hi flow mufflers take little force to push the gasses out. It has a very nice sound and you can still hear quite well.
