Essex made a 2.0L V-4, but they are completely different engines and do not share _any_ parts. According to the Automobile Club of Italy's World Car Catalogue, in 1971 the 2.0L Essex engine was used in the English version of the Capri 2000 and in the Zephyr and Zodiac.
The Taunus engine was available in 1300cc, 1500cc and 1700cc versions. The 1300cc was a smaller bore than the 1500cc. The 1700cc was a longer stroke. SAAB never used the 1300cc version.
The original Ford Mustang I show car, which is in the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, had a V-4 engine. I'm not sure which version, except that the Taunus engine was originally a Detroit design.
