Thanks for your reply.

Good points about the weight distribution and unsprung weight reduced with aluminum components. In my test drive of the car it did feel very balanced to me-more so than the probably more nose-heavy A4 Quattro. Bimmer owners might scoff at FWD, but by the end of my test drive last week the car felt pretty BMW-like, more so than the A4 at least.

Hope I didn't bore everyone with another FWD/AWD/RWD discussion. I read a lot of car forums and I know those type of discussions can get a little tedious and redundant at times. But my current vehicle is a FWD Infiniti G20. Good handling car, but I was sort of looking for a different setup.

I live in snow country (Upstate NY)-but was willing to go RWD if I could find the right car (16" wheels-don't feel like spending a mint to replace tires every year-and buy snow tires and winter wheels on top of that). But the supply of 2005 BMW 3 series has dried up-stick shift is a must so that eliminates G35 and C-Class (stick shift only available with 18" wheels or staggered 17s respectively).

That left Audi and Saab. Drove the 1.8T last year-decided to wait for the 2.0T-test drove twice and was dissapointed. Nice engine, 6speed, interior and build quality. AWD a plus-but car felt a bit floaty -not what I expected. Didn't feel quite as solid and steering felt much more boosted than the 1.8T's did, for some reason.

Was surprised by the 9-3. Good Handling/ride; steering felt better than I expected, a little light at high speed, but good road feel. There's also a weird sort of "niftyness" (for lack of a better word) to the car. Also would be nice to get leather seats w/o sunroof (not possible with Audi).

Decisons, decisions.

Thanks.
