I've owned both Audi and Saab and I love both like an old family member. Currently, I'm driving a '04 Saab Aero and I love that car. My wife has made me purchase her a new S40 T5 AWD, which she loves but I treat like an unwanted puppy. I'm getting off track.

I think one major factor in deciding between the two cars is the quality of the Audi and Saab service centers in your area. Luckily, I live in KC (voted the WORST roads in the USA, YEA!) and we have George's Imports for Saab repair. George's is one of the finest Saab service centers in the country. We have a very good Audi service center, but nothing like our Saab service center.

My personal experience is that Audis are much more expensive to fix overall than a Saab. However, when one considers a high end European car, they have to consider repair costs. I haven't run into one cheap to fix European car, outside of Yugo, and Eastern Block cars just aren't that fun.

The last Audi I had was an A6. I loved that thing. But I love my Saab as well. So, here's my advice.

If you live in a big city area that has both a local Saab and Audi club, contact them and see what they have to say about the service centers. Also, gauge the clubs themselves, see how "into" their respective cars. A good enthusiast club can be a major help when dealing with the expensive quirks of European cars.

I envy and don't envy you, La_Strada. You have a hard choice in front of you. But you're going to have so much fun with whatever you choose.
