Just a note, but you list AWD as a safety point. Why?

I have had AWD vehicles before (when I lived in Montana), and have found that while in really bad snow the AWD helps out, 99.9% of the time it does no more than just plain common sense slick weather driving. For some reason we as a society have been sold by the manufacturers that we NEED AWD when infact there are very few of us who truely need it. Around here in the Kansas City area I get around just fine with my three 2wd cars in the bad weather (which does include snow and ice,) and enjoy the lower maintenance and fuel costs year round....
