Well... The 2005 Maxima is assembled in Tenn. The 2005 9-5 is assembled in Sweden. The Maxima has a 3.5-liter DOHC 24-valve V6 engine 265 hp at 5,800 rpm 255 lb-ft of torque at 4,400 rpm. The 9-5 has a 2.3-LITER 4-cylinder high-output turbo; SAE horsepower rating—250 at 5300 rpm
SAE peak torque—258 lb.ft. at 1900-4500 rpm (Standard on Aero). I like the low-end torque. I've also driven the Maxima, (the Altima is quicker), along with a few other cars I thought sounded too good to be true. I really wasn't that impressed. I don't know where the Maxima is hiding all that HP. If I really wanted an American car with HP, I'd get a GTO. I've also noticed that the non-Saab owners don't think very highly of their maintenance programs. I feel like a king when I show up at the shop. I guess the "No Charge Scheduled Maintenance" for 3 years or 36,000 miles* (whichever comes first) and Roadside Assistance for 4 years or 50,000 miles is a nice feature, too. You don't get that with the Maxima.
