I am 17 and bought my 2001 9-5 SE V6 sedan in March, of couse with some help from my parents. I learned to drive in a whole bunch of different cars: Grandma's 2004 Taurus (bleh), Aunt's 1999 Audi A4 2.8 quattro(fun car!), and my mom's former 2000 Town and Country (RIP). From the minivan the Saab is really easy and fun to drive. In normal mode the gas pedal is very smooth and not too touchy so you won't go flying froma stop (whole different story in sport mode though ;) ). My car has 164k miles on it and is still going strong. I know the previous owner (very anal about maintanance) spent just under $6,000 maintaining the car from 80k miles when his warranty expired to when I bought it at 159k. Most of that stuff was wear and tear with the mileage like tires, wheel bearings, suspension, etc... The V6 is pretty reliable, it won't get anywhere close the reliability of some of the newer Japanese models but come on, who wants one of those? Oh yeah, I am one of those "wreckless: teenage boys everyone talks about, and I have yet to get one speeding ticket or get into any accidents. Knock on wood... Good luck!
