important but hard to define. As noted, many folks equate refinement is "really quiet and smooth" which we can sense and even appreciate but, as Saab people, we choose otherwise. I'm wouldn't call my attachment to Saab as related to "refinement" but a recurrent appreciation of really well thought-out details. Some that I really like:

• The asymmetrical speedo (recently dropped) which gives much more space in the area that we use the most. I don't get over 120 very often.
• The radio can be turned on without the key and does not get interrupted when you start the car.
• Car driver info in front of the driver ( fuel, temp, etc) and general info (time temp radio station etc) is in the middle where it can be shared. (also cluttered up on recent models)
• no ash tray for a car make with the lowest incidence of smokers in the industry
• dual sun shades- it seems the sun is always moving to the place your single visor isn't.
• the memory functions beep when they get it. Others make you guess if it was received
• Moon roof open and close. It knows if the back end is up (vent) or it is slid open you- it knows you want it closed by pushing the button the same way. Our Volvo and others make you choose the right one.
•radio controls on the steering wheel are not lighted - which distracts me at night- but has instantly understood bumps for up and down. Keep looking at the road

I'm sure others can name a feature or thoughtful detail they have noticed. No one item is a "closer" but the sum of the items (most never get into the literature) makes that special and fun experience we love so dearly. Almost a secrete club handshake. Macs are like that, and Bang & Olufsen sound stuff.
Now, if they just don't sell out completely on the 2008.
