Soft ride alone might be the most minor sign of a design issue. For example, if the springs allow the dampers to remain too compressed for extended periods the dampers won't operate as designed, will feel soft, and will fail early. Lots of people report very early rear handling issues such as hop and lateral skipping of the rear end.
What sort of loads did you put in the car other than the ~165lb tongue weight?
All Aeros have wider tires and lowered suspensions which exacerbates the problem so it is as bad or worse than +0 sized tires on a non-sport suspension 9-5 with original 215/55R16 tires.
Didn't your Bilsteins last about 4 times as long as the OEM dampers? Do you think OEM rear damper life is reasonable considering how long the Bilsteins and your front dampers lasted?
