I live in an area where labor is quoted at $100/hr, and "cleaning" is one of those subjective tasks. I'm a little apprehensive about doing it myself for two reasons:
(1) actually having to work under the car for upto 4hrs, applying significant torque to rusty bolts . . . can tip/move the car if not done right.
(2) resealing the pan gasket, if not done right can lead to massive leak and potentially quick engine death due to lack of lubrication.
I'm trying to devise a way that can clean up the oil pick up screen easily and relatively risk-free (both to the owner and to the car). I emailed and called ABCSalesLLC last week regarding its modified oil pan with detachable bottom, but have not heard back from them.
