Not the same thing....I keep seeing it over and over.
And to refresh your memory, both Goldberger and myself posted to you on the qualities of the SL /GF-3 spec which you seemed to appreciate.
And AGAIN, the owners manual states that the BASIC RECOMMENDATION of SAAB is 5W-30/0W-30/5W-40 SEMI, OR FULLY SYNTHETIC, API SJ or higher and ILSAC GF-3, for the USA spec. and 0W-40/50 oils are recommended " for EXTREME driving conditions".
The inexpensive Target oil you mention does not qualify, as it is neither semi, nor full synthetic, and would be eliminated on that basis alone.
So,in your driving application, you rate the way you drive as extreme, and use the appropriate viscosity for that application. But it's not a MUST DO.
