Yes it is!
TG, you're quite correct about oil analysis over the long run. Definitely, there's nothing better for detecting an early antifreeze leak in the oil, so that a disaster (wrecked engine) can be averted. I did a "spot check" oil analysis on my dad's car because I wanted to make sure that his engine wasn't about to seize up after 15,000 miles on the same oil! Heheh...
I had never seen such a long drain interval before, and I've never seen oil that looked so nasty before. (Well I have, but that was in a turbo-diesel) Anyhow, apparently all is well.
Now J, as for 10W-30 vs. 0W-40, Mobil 1 vs. Amsoil, etc., you and I will use M1 0W-40 and TG will probably stick with M1 5W-30 (or was it 10W-30), while Dick in Falls Church and Mike will most likely continue to use Amsoil.
And you know what? Even after 200,000 miles, it probably won't make a difference, I'm sure any of those fully synthetic oils would protect a SAAB engine just fine..
But if anyone ever asks me, it's Mobil 1 0W-40 always!! Bah!! LOL..
