I've got five 1-liter bottles of Saab OE 5W-30 semi-syn in my garage right now which are all labelled as meeting A3/B3 specs. TxG & I have been 'round & 'round with this before, & we both agree that the current product available in the US is A1/B1 rated. My bottles are about a year old & don't have any US markings or part numbers on them. The dealership where I got the oil was fairly new at the time, so my theory is that they got some "emergency supplies" to hold them until regular lines could be established. This is somewhat supported by the July '00 Saab Oil TSB, which specifies that both the OE 5W-30 semi-syn & OE 0W-40 full-syn meet A3/B3 specs.
When I called the three closest dealers about our new OE 0W-30, I was told that the bottles did have the A5/B5 rating but not the A3/B3 rating. Since TxG has some contacts in Sweden, he may be able to find out if the Euro OE 0W-30 is rated differently. That is, assuming they distribute the OE 0W-30 in Europe...
