To get more power, all that you need to do is deliver more fuel!
Many folks are intalling 205 injectors, same as used in europe. Stock is 185 and the automatics have even smaller injectors, but the automatics have a bigger capacity fuel pump which then generates higher injection pressures. This creates larger loads on the timing belt driven injector pump which is why the timing belt replacement interval is shorter with the automatics.
The injection timing is imporant too. Mine was relatively retarded and is now at the higher end of the band. I have a VAGCOM so this is easy to for me to check.
Diesel are smooth at very low rpm's becuase the fuel is delivered and burn over a period of time. With a gasser, you ignite and it burns with a thump and its all over.
I use Delvac One int the TDI and use Amoco Premier fuel. It is low sulfer and high cetane. Burns cleaner and runs smoother with more power.
I think that our DTI will beat the Aero across the intersection!
