Hi Anders, should you read this post I have a question you probably would know:
I had my 9-5 in to the dealer for a number of warranty repairs just prior to 50k. I asked the service guy to check on an oil leak which I assumed was from the drain plug, but the service advisor called back and said the oil leak was from a faulty timing chain cover seal, and they would need the car for a week to pull the engine and redo the seal.
When I picked the car up, I asked if they would have replaced fluids (oil and anti-freeze) during the work, and they said yes. But in looking at hose clamps, engine mount brace bolts, oil fittings to the radiator, and other things which would have to be disconnected, I would swear that the engine has never been removed from the car.
I've taken the timing chain cover off my old 1986 9000, and with some swivel sockets did not have to pull the engine out of the car. My question is, do you know whether the engine has to be pulled to replace the timing chain cover seal of the 9-5 ? It would also be good to know should the crank sensor flake out and I need to replace.
My main interest is in the maintenance of the anti-freeze at the 60k point where I am at now. The oil leak was repaired successfully.
thanks
