It's funny how the belief system is more important than the reality. You shrug off the certainty of oil consumption, alternator failure and ignition parts replacement, not just a minority happening, but just about every Saturn. How many torque axis motor mounts have you gone through, or do you just put up with the wicked idle vibration as a normal characteristic? Had you valve body replaced in the automatic yet? Another way more common Saturn problem than a DIC in a Saab. And the ignition and the alternator do leave people just as stranded.
Even with the DIC in the Saabs, which I believe according to surveys on these BB's happens only to only a minority percentage of owners, there are almost no oil consumption problems or alternator failures. I don't know how you compare it, but IMHO, even considering the DIC issues, Saabs are bulletproof compared to Saturns or just about any car.
