All of those issues are not like the 9-5's apparently unpredictable, unannounced DI failure that can leave you stranded at any time.
My SC has burned about 1 qt per 1,200 miles since I bought it. I just keep it filled up and have never had a single problem with the engine. Still runs great, gets 32 mpg mixed, pulls strong, starts up all winter, couldn't ask for more.
Had one alternator go at ~ 60k. Still have that one.
I've replaced the plug wires twice, a simple $60 DIY job. Also replaced one of the DIS coils just a few months ago. Another simple $40 DIY job. Key with all of those is that you know something's wrong and you have a chance to get it addressed before the car craps out on you.
I'll be blessed if my '03 Aero is as reliable and trouble-free as my Saturn!
