I have no confidence in third-party warranties. However, some others have had good experience with third-party warranties and I hope you hear from some.
You might consider asking your dealer to buy the car from you, put it in the CPO program, and sell it back to you. This may work if you have a good relationship with the dealer. I think it costs the dealer around $1000-1500 to put the car in the CPO program. This would probably not work if you have sales tax in your State.
If you could get your car in the CPO program for $2000-3000, then there is a pretty good chance that you will get your money back over the next several years, and you will have some protection against catastrophe.
