A few brake questions after fixing the following problem of screws caught between the rotor and the backing plate on my '86 900S (linked if you want to follow the saga http://www.saabnet.com/tsn/bb/900/index.html?bID=190757)
1) The retaining wire that holds the U shaped clamp in place snapped, so it is now MUCH shorter than it originally was. It just looks like a mangled piecie of wire. Is this a special piece, or will i be able to get something comparable at my local auto part shop? (i wisely decided against just using a paper clip!!)
2) The head of the torx screw which hold the rotor in place became a little stripped while i was retightening. Does anybody know the size of this screw so i can replace it and not have to worry about not being able to remove or tighten it in the future?
3) The pads seem to be slightly rubbing against the rotors at all times. Is this normal, or should there always be some clearance between the pads and the rotors when the brake is not depressed? The pads are fairly new if that makes a difference, so there is not much wear in them yet.
4) The edge of the rotor is not flush. The edge in some places looks more like an upside down "V" rather than an upside down "U" (if the "U" had a flat bottom). Is this a concern?
5) If facing the car from the side, there is play in the backing plate if i move it from left to right, it seems as if its only held in place because of all of the components behind it. I'm thinking the two screws that came out of it (my original problem) were supposed to hold the backing plate in place. I've added a pic of the mangled screws so you can see the size and venture a guess as to where they came from:

Thanks for any and all help with the above. I would not have known where to begin looking or had the confidence to try to tackle this task without the help of this board (and my Bentley, which i learned about from this board as well)
