(thanks twinsaabs, and DougM for tranny rebuild pics/instructions) and I have a couple of questions. First, the nut at the front of the pinion shaft was loose when I got to it... only the anti-rotation tabs were keeping it from spinning off.. has anyone come across that? Second, the spacers between the back of reverse gear and the big pinion housing nut were deformed and one had a circumfrential crack spanning 120-150 degrees. Do you think these are related, and could the loose nut contribute to the cruntching I had going into second/third with a cold tranny? Finally, the coating on the inside of the case is crackled. Is this normal, or a sign of the tranny running hot... at one time before I noticed a leaky shift-shaft seal, I got very low on tranny oil.
