i'm with the other guys - keep it and either DIY or have it done.
get another car to drive in the meantime so you don't feel rushed. driving any other car will make you want your saab back ASAP!!!!
if you DIY you will need a good space to work and lots of tools, so it's a fair investment of cash to get set up, but worth it as you will be able to continue working on the car for it's next decade. the knowledge you gain will be immense too.! i had to install a hoist, build a huge workbench, shelving,e tc to do it.
if you have to have someone else do it, might as well have them look at the bottom end of the engine (inspect bearings, crank, etc for wear)and/
or do a head gasket/head reconditioning at the same time as the tranny o/h and you will avoid that inevitable job in the future.
