I have a 1993 900s with 151k on it. It seems to have some severe valve noise. When at idle it sounds like a slight tick tick tick type noise. As give gas, it increases porportinaly. I am debateing if I should do a valve job, new timing chain, tensionser etc... or if that is not the problem what is it. Is it the timeing chain about ready to explode? My brothers 9000 broke a timeing chain (guess I am werry of high millage on timing chain). I can make the sound lessen by heat to engine (when the engine changes temp, it sometimes will make worse or less noise). The strange thing is it is not consistant. That is the part that confuses me.
One day it will be loud, and the next it will not. I did a 2000 mi trip and it did not seem to agrivate it any. I guess I am ready to sink some money into my car if I can quiet the engine and cause less engine wear.
Yes engine oil is toped off as well as 87 octain fuel is being used in the tank...
Any advice would be helpful.
