Before you start ordering lifters, get a big screwdriver and hold the handle against your head just in front of your ear. Touch the tip along the length of the valve cover and you will probably find that the noise increases as you approach the firewall. If so, it's likely that you need a new valve cover damper pad. Simple replacement and you should probably put on new valve cover seals, just cuz.
If the ticking is not near the firewall, you probably have a sticky lifter. Before replacing lifters, I would try a bottel of Marvel Mystery Oil in the crankcase or the trick of adding a pint of Dextron III trans fluid to the oil. Works great disolving lifter deposits. If still NG, then it's time to replace the offending lifter(s). Still not a big deal.
