for a non-turbo, all you need to do is get an 8v lower heater hose to eliminate the thin line going to the TB. Then you need to plug the opening on the hard pipe under the intake man. that normally runs to the TB.
for a turbo, slightly more complicated due to having the PCV line running to the turbo inlet pipe.
Stage 1 would be what i did so far- swap the lower heater hose p/n 7541527M for a non-turbo hose p/n 7513435, which does run to the TB. keep the connection from TB to hard pipe. to rid the engine of the PCV line dont forget to seal the newly-vacated bung on the turbo inlet pipe (or install a custom pipe) and install a puke can somewhere.
Stage 2 would be more - swap the turbo lower heater hose as above for an 8V upper heater hose p/n 9324609 which eliminates any thin line running forward to the TB. Again, plug the hard pipe opening somehow. I havent done this but just looking at it, the 8v pipe should work.
So, given the hassle factor, unless you are dead serious, i'd leave it all intact and hope that thin line under the intake doesnt ever start leaking! if you did this conversion it would be a pain in the butt to reverse everything for cold-weather driving...
hope that helps,
Wayne in Calgary
