Thanks Ari - I am a little nervous about my AMM. Here's a little more detail if you can stand it!
I had some minor hiccups a couple months ago (it feels like the engine is totally gone for up to a second during one of these - not like one or 2 cylinders are missing). Then I had a high idle for one 10 mi trip (with a hiccup), then back to normal for a couple weeks. After that I figured out how to read the codes: 12112 incorrect mixture at idle and 12221 no signal from AMM, so I replaced it with a rebuild from thesaabsite. The NEXT trip it ran fine for about 20 minutes; then a bunch of hiccups and the car lost power, billowed black smoke, and barely made it home. At this point I replaced the fuel pump with a spare, and the car was fine for 2 weeks. Then I had a few minor hiccups on a long trip, then another black smoke episode, then some more minor hiccups.
I never got black smoke before the AMM change, but the sympoms in general are the same for before and after, so that's why I've been looking at other stuff. I will check the plugs. Ken
