The coil is possible. The ignition module sends a signal to both the coil and the tach - if the tach isn't dropping, I'd assume the ignition module and hall-effect are OK.
In all my years, I've only had two coil failures. None on Saabs, but that doesn't mean anything. One was abrupt and final. The other was quite subtle - as the coil engine warmed up (and therefore the coil heated up), there was a narrow temperature band where the coil had an intermittent open circuit. The engine would stumble and surge. A minute or so later, all was fine. Replacing the coil fixed the problem.
The trouble codes don't necessarily line up with a coil issue. You've got the codes - how do the spark plugs look? If the engine control thinks the engine is running rich, do the spark plugs agree? I'd make sure I had that problem figured out before going after a possible coil issue. I'd especially look for a single cylinder getting wierd. That could indicate a sticky fuel injector. Say one is sticking open on occasion - you'd get an over-rich mixture, and could cause that cylinder to mis-fire.
I noticed you said you replaced the rotor, cap, and plugs. How about the spark plug wires? They die over time, and you could have an intermittent arc from a wire to the engine. That means the spark doesn't go to that cylinder, and you get a mis-fire. I don't like letting spark plug wires go more than about 3 years, or if they show ANY signs of wear.
