Tips for freeing the spindle from the hub?

I'm trying to replace my left inner & outer CV boots but I can't knock the spindle out of the hub. (Rust-frozen?) I've got the tie rod & both ball joints detached, but the shaft is still in the car. I don't have a bench vise.

I've soaked the end of the spidle splines with PBlaster & tried using a puller, leveraging the arms to the back of the flange that the rotor mounts to & pushing against the spindle center. I'm using enough force that I'm afraid I'm going to break the flange.

I'v also tried whacking the end of the spindle with a large (24 oz?) hammer & a small (5 lb?) sledge, but all I've been able to do is mash the end of the spindle. (I'll bevel the end with a Dremel to remove the damaged threads after I get it apart.)

Any other suggestions?
