Thanks Hans, Saabnutt, and whitesaab. I read the responses last night and was pretty tired from a long day in an icy garage. whitesaab had it correct. My trouble is that the car idles roughly after it warms up. Sorry if my explanation wasn't clear.
Regardless, I think I'll take a look at the temp sensor tomorrow night. I also plan to do a little more refurbishing of the ground point wiring on the radiator cross member. I was in too much of a hurry the first time through and know some of this wiring could use further attention.
It was a bitter cold day here and the Saab idled flawlessly. I'll post a followup after I clean the sensor and ground point.
One final comment. I've read several posts suggesting that the an air mass meter can test out fine yet still be faulty. I'm not entirely comfortable replacing a part that doesn't test out of spec or faulty. Does anyone know of any diagnostic tests not listed in the Bentley that may be helpful? I'm not doubting anyone's word on the topic. I've read several posts where replacing the AMM solved the problem even though the diagnostics were ok. I've also read plenty of posts where the new AMM did nothing. My Saab is in need of plenty of parts and I need to ration out the $'s.
Regardless, I really appreciate the answers I get from people on the board. The Bentley is pretty darn good but the voice of experience helps a lot.
