I do agree a bit here. It sounds as if the TV cable might be slightly out of adjustment, hence the slightly delayed 3-4 upshift, with corresponding harshness. When I first purchased my 94 9000 cs, someone had tweeked the cable up so much the 3-4 upshift didn't occur until 45+ at light throttle, and offered quite a bit of commotion on downshifting. This transmission is not the smoothest unit made, but it gets the job done with resonable efficiency. Initially, I adjusted the throttle cable according to that outlined on the townsend site, and performed the "triple fluid change." Addition of lube gard red and a fluid change every other oil change has allowed me to pull over 140K from my original unit, and shifts almost as smooth as some of the newer designs out there.
