ACC once and for all. Just tell me it's normal... Posted by Jon [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Ok. I'm at my wit's end here. I've been through countless archived posts about this infuriating ACC system, and I can't seem to find any answers. My car is a 1994 9Kcs. Here lie the basics:
ACC programmed to AUTO.
Ambient temperature below 40F.
Selected temp is 80F.
Calibration completed, no error message.
Brand spanking new Cabin temp sensor, cabin fan, and heater core.
Blend door working as designed.
At this temp setting, the cabin fan never seems to increase speed automatically after warmup on a cold morning. It just starts out low, then increases slightly, taking forever to warm the cabin. It also likes to begin to blow cool air before the interior reaches a comfort level I equate with 80 or 82F, condition worsened by manually increasing fan speed to warm interior.
Using the HI setting gives designed results. High fan, high heat.
In the warm weather, the cabin fan will blow on high speed when set for 70F until the cabin cools, I imagine it should do the same for the cold weather, excepting the appropiate warm up time for the heater core. Augh. It seems as if this thing thinks it's warmer than it really is.
Its behavior remains unchanged depsite the new parts. So is it supposed to not increase the fan speed after warmup on a cold morning? Or should it allow for warmup then blow on high till the cabin warms then slow down.
I don't know where to go next, except perhaps a blended air temp sensor or a new ACC head. Also, when the fan is manually selected full high, the led drops from the hi point to the low point on the display.
Or is it in my head? Should I buy a Honda? Do I need help?
Thanks!
Peace, love and Guiness!
Jon.
