That's what I understood (although I don't know where I read it) - that the JT would add about 10HP (maybe it's what Abbott quoted for their system, I can't remember). As well as the K&N filter and modified airbox, I have removed the heatplate from the inlet (only fitted to a few later 9000s, apparently). So I currently have standard software with increased boost at the top end to compensate for a very restrictive heatplate (covers around 20-25% of the inlet area), in an engine that doesn't have one. Karl in Sweden is (or at least, was recently) running the same setup and reckons 250+hp, but I prefer to be conservative. He did manage to get it over 160mph (goodness knows where!) Perhaps some day I might sell my old ECU as an upgrade for an Aero without the heatplate, but I'll hang onto it for a while.
Maptun didn't quote me a figure, but it's a stage 2 Aero ECU, which is listed on their site as 275hp (with JT system and standard TD04-15T turbo). Johnny told me on the phone to expect around 450Nm (330lbft, I think) at around 3000rpm. Since my software is already better than most, I think around 35hp from just software alone is pretty good. What I'm really looking forward to, though, is better low-speed response. Maptun tell me they advance ignition timing for more power (I think that's what they mean by "ignition is increased", but hey, my Swedish is non-existent so I can't criticise), and I expect this will make the car more responsive from lower speeds.
I'll have to try to go easier on the curves and especially the roundabouts to try to make the Bridgestones last a bit longer. It's just too tempting, though...
So are you thinking along the lines that you have a fresh start on the transmission and if you tune it and look after it, you might be in with a fighting chance? That's exactly the way I felt when I blew my old engine and had a much lower-mileage one fitted in its place, having had a brand new turbo fitted not long before. I'd have been a bit wary of tuning an engine with about 140K miles on it (when I fitted the exhaust). I've foregone the boost limit in second gear, so I'll have to learn to drive it properly and be prepared to replace the transmission at some point (it has over 160K miles on it).
