Maybe I should have, but I didn't. But I do have a friend, who has a friend who knows someone who really knows who killed JFK.
So it was Dupont against George the Autofrost guy. Wow. Poor George. Oh yeah, it was George himself who recently acknowledged that Autofrost is not compatible with a lot of the ester oils on the market.
The 9000 converts well to r134a and the only new part you need is a new drier, which you can get for $30. And it's not that the old drier wouldn't work. For $16 you might as well replace the expansion valve also. Fascinating that the article did not mention ester oils at all.
If you are worried about the missing 10%, then stick with r12. Of course, your r12 system, after a dozen years, was probably down to about 50% from where it started when the compressor blew its seal. So, if you did the conversion right, you would almost certainly have better cooling than you did last week.
