I have a 97 CSE, purchased used in 1999. I had 6 months left on the warrantee, but bought 12 more months when it expired.
Since the beginnng of 2001 I've been "warrantee free" (ie I'm doing without it).
In the first 6 months I didn't have any major problems. During the extended Warrantee I discovered several problems that, according to my calculations just about broke even against the warrantee payment. Since then I've had few problems (so far so good).
Recently, the electronic displays have started failing. The "dimmer" stays on. In other words, I can't see the display on a sunny day. The dealer says it'll cost me about $600 ($ Canadian) to fix.
Conclusion:
This is the best car I've ever owned. I love the way it drives. But if anything brakes, it's expensive to fix. If the fear of repair costs is going to make you lose sleep, I'd suggest the warrantee route. If you're handy fixing your own car, or can live with the possibility of repairs (with unpredicatable costs), you can go without.
