I found a mint condition 97 Aero- it is fantastic. I sold my 89 Porsche 944 and bought the Aero on the same day. The Aero provides the same sportiness as the 944 but without the throaty exhaust, limited space and (exciting) torque-y pull in 3rd and 4th gears. But there's a weight difference and one is a sedan. But I was looking for a speedy sedan, and the Aero works. After searching online, I found the car at http://www.swedishmotors.com. A one-owner, 1997 Aero w an immaculate body and excellent (a notch below immaculate) with 103,000 miles and a 6 month, 7,500 mile warranty for $14,900 ($14,500 if I didn't want the warranty).

The records dated to 20,000, which was great, and the seller (Swedish Motors) also serviced the car since 20,000 miles. I also hhad access to the background of the previous owner- a sales person who put highway miles on the car but had it babied because it was hi office on wheels, essentially. This same guy bought and sold and serviced at least 7 other Aeros at Swedish Motors. Also, there aren't too many 1997 Aeros out there, as I;ve read. And supposedly it's the best year (and last of that production run).

The work that has been needed: I didn't have a mechanic look at it because I got a good feeling (the details helped!). So, I've gotten repaired the left front fog light, an interior dash light, a high-pressure power steering hose. I found out the head gasket is leaking slightly, but doesn't appear troublesome right now...could be in 6 months or 3 years. Otherwise, I got the super OK from my mechanic that the car is ready and in terrific shape!!

I'm thrilled. A people and stuff mover in style.

Good luck with the hunt.
