Aussie Pete~
I have a '93 Aero and have had a couple BMW's and driven a few others, including the e36 325, like yours. I prefer the pedal feel on the BMW to my Aero. While sporting cars do typically have a firm pedal (the Saab has a firm pedal, as does the BMW) I like a very linear pedal feel AND movement. My biggest complaint with the Saab brakes is that pedal feel is deadened because there is less pedal travel through the heavy braking portions of its capabilities. I am capable of stomping on the brake pedal sufficiently enough to bring the big car to a stop at a very quick clip, but the "feel" in that process is not great. If you are interested in trying to fix this, I'd look into drilled or slotted rotors and new pads that are supposed to be "grippier." Brakes are difficult to get dialed in because they last a fairly long time...so the oportunity to try new things doesn't come every week...unless you have more money than you know what to do with...then you might go through a few setups in a couple weeks before you find what you like.
I hope something works out for you.
Regards,
Peter
