Hi andy,
sorry you got confused on the pin clipping issue! But don't worry, i think you clipped the right one.
In my car, which is 1990 9000 turbo (US), it was pin 30.
My car isn't trionic though... its completely different than yours.
I also clipped the pin to my ECU, because my car was converted to a 5-speed and is no longer an automatic.
Your low idle speed condition might be caused by something else in the system... and i recommend trying to reset the ECU by disconnecting your battery overnight.
When you hook it up in the morning, the ecu should be reset and the idle could go back to normal, but if it doesn't, you could have an unrelated problem.
I can tell you one thing about the wire you cut though...
...in my car, this wire would tell the ecu to temporarily RAISE the idle speed, so the engine can easily shift the transmission into gear withouth STALLING!
You might be better off re-attaching this wire, and inserting a switch on your dashboard, so you can manually open and close the connection on this pin, without it being open all the time.
good luck either way
-gavin
