I did an experiment a while back - got both a 900T and a 9KT,
something I'd always wanted to do, just to see which fit me
best.....the 9KT won (of course !), and I sold the 900T to an
old friend who said she was going to drive it, and let her
teenage son drive the cololla - yeah sure - guess who got the
nice lil turbo ?

A few months later, I saw it on the front lawn, badly smashed,
and asked what happened - the kid gave some cock and bull
story about passing, and tangled with some trees when he left
the road - neither of the 2 people in the car were hurt more
than scratches, and they opened the doors and walked away.

Weeks later, a '90 9KT appears there, and when next we visit
I hear it is his, bought by him (with some help from mom...),
and he has high hopes for it - wants to change the A/T to 5sp,
get some Aero wheels, etc, etc....

Within days, I am driving by, and there is a tow rig in front
of it, and MAN IS THAT CAR BENT !!!

Mom is out talking with the tow guy, he gets paid and leaves,
and we chat - the story ?

2 hours before, the kid is driving in broad daylight, with
good tires, on dry pavement - and the car 'goes off the road' !

Mom has also been a Saaber - she knows this is hogwash, Saabs
in good repair don't just go chasing trees - but that's his
story.

Did people get hurt ?
Nope, same story - just walked away.
Is this luck ?

I don't think so - but I do think this kid needs an old, way
underpowered Volvo from now on !!!

My other 2 cents:
Here in the north country, with lots of narrow and dirt roads,
many kinds of wildlife that wander across the roads, and most
drivers doing 50+ on the dirt, and 70+ on the 2 lane pavement,
it is a very GOOD thing to drive a Saab, which may be why
there are so many hereabouts !!
