Lots of really great points, and SOOO good to hear from the
'younger set' too !!
I don't think generalizing is the best idea either, but I
do think that a lack of experience, sometimes combined with
too spunky of a car can be a way of begging for problems.
In this case, I would make this kid, if I could, drive a non
turbo Volvo just because he is so crash prone - gosh, if he
had parents that bought him a 'safer' bimmer - he'd be dead
already.
The generalized types of driver I find the scariest are:
- Kids in hyped up rice burners;
- Old folks driving 'safely' 15-20 MPH *under* the posted speed;
- Idiots in mini-vans and S(uck)UV's that just don't look;
- Truckers from a place across the border that drive folks off
the road whilst smiling;
- Folks that come from other countries and somehow get a
license without being able to read or speak English.
Aside of that, I have known some young folks that were SUPER
good drivers, some speedy, some not - some folks are no damn
good in a car at any age !!!
Thanks for making this such a lively thread folks !!!
