when I was experiencing failed-hg-related issues. I noticed plug #1 was difficult to remove, and then saw wetness on top of cyl #1 when I shined a light down the plug hole. I re-torqued all of the head bolts and it seemed to have helped. That was approx. 12K miles ago, and now my "low coolant" light comes on every 2 - 3 days. I also have a considerable amount of white smoke out the tail pipe when car is cold, and then less (but still visible) when warm. I can hear coolant gurgling in the heater core when I am sitting in the car with the engine running and the radio off. I assume this to be pressurized air in the cooling system from the leaking hg. I replaced the heater core 10K miles ago with a Nissens one.

Car is driving fine except for lumpy/irregular idle. No oil-coolant mix yet. No external coolant leaks anywhere, so it is leaking internally. Every O2 sensor I install seems to develop laziness as high-boost only comes on if I slowly press on the gas pedal when the car is warm, but is attained immediately when car is cold. Eventually, the CEL will come on with a bad O2 sensor code (this has happened 3 times within the 2 years of having a failing hg). This make me believe that burned coolant in the exhaust is coating the tip of the O2 sensor. I also noticed a lot more water seeps out between the turbo-to-manifold spot, along with a lot of white powdery film around that junction.
