The only things I can add to the other excellent posts is new water pump and 02 sensor and serp belt and hoses and thermostat and maybe serp belt tensioner. And really clean both mating surfaces before dropping the new HG on.I started with a razor blade in one hand and a shop vac hose in the other. Then went to wire wheel on a drill, then brake cleaner and wiping with a cloth until you can wipe the surface and a white T-shirt comes off white.Suface needs to be really clean with no impregnated oil residue so when surface heats up the new HG seats itself properly to do its job.As far as dropping the head on helperless its an excellent idea to use two old head bolts for re-positioning as the excisting positioning pins are only about a quarter of an inch tall and by the time you get that close you can't be sure you haven't already ruined the new gasket.I fashioned a piece of 1 inch pvc pipe and made each end u-shaped to hold up the timming chain so I could drop the head on.Of course get new head bolts.I did not remove the radiator only the fan/shroud.At this point you will be standing inside the engine compartment for better positioning and to avoid a back injury.Good luck in your wrestling match. After the job is done and you have put 500 miles on is when the head bolts should be checked for torque again.Add Barhs leak to the new coolant and put extended life stuff in.Straight not 50/50.Add your own water.Any questions?
