When I bought my first Saab (900) in the early '80s I was told by the old guy who was the one-man service department at the small dealership that the only U.S. oil recommended by Saab at that time was Wolf's Head 10W30 with 3000 to 4000 mile change intervals. I have used nothing but since. Granted, Wolf's Head has since been bought by Pennzoil and probably is no longer made from Pennsylvania crude (wax base as opposed to asphalt base) but out of habit I still use it and have never had any oil related problems nor have we ever had to add oil between changes in any of our five Saabs. The '94 CSE I passed on to my son had over 280k miles on it when it was totaled by a deer.
My significant other just bought a 2006 9-5T which has been raised with synthetic so in this case I will continue to feed it synthetic.
