I'm running Mobil 1 synthetic 0w40 and changing at 5K intervals. Will switch however to Shell Rotella T 5w40 next time because it has a great additive package, as confirmed by abusot.
Don't scrimp on the quality of the filter if you want to keep your car a long time. I use the Mobil 1 model M1-209 filter, which is oversized. I won't explain why for fear of being accused again of being a BITOG troll, which I am not. Go standard size if oversize sounds scary to you.
The guys who go with conventional and change at 3K intervals are probably getting equally good results. So if you like doing frequent changes and keeping an eye on things under the car, then conventional 10w30 will work if it has a strong ZDDP package (hint: look at conventional diesel oils like Delvac and Rotella).
NearlyNormal (how I wish I were!) is absolutely right about the air filter. I don't know who makes the air filter that Saab sells, but it is made better than most of the aftermarket air filters. That's what I use.
