I don't have a lot of time and there are a lot of threads about the headgasket. But just a few things. You can use the 3/8 T16 on a 1/2" breaker bar with an adapter, as long as it is an impact one. You may want to take the head to a shop and get them to check it for flatness, especially after overheating. Also, the overheating probably degraded the valve seals so you should get some and have the shop put them in. When you take the head in, take off all the external stuff and the cams. Might as well put in a new thermostat. There is a headgasket kit which includes the hg and the intake and exhaust gaskets, valve cover gasket and the valve seals.
I'm not sure what you mean by the tensioner spacer. I just replaced mine this past weekend. Take a look at the upper motor mounts. If they are cracked and loose, new ones make a big difference.
Random thoughts: Put some rags in the cylinders when you clean the top of the block. Exhaust manifold bolts might be bad and need replacement. At least put anti-seize on them. Run the car a little bit when it gets back together, then change the oil and filter, especially with a turbo. Use new headbolts and oil them before you put them in, especially under the head of the bolt.
That is enough for now. Others will add there expertise. Keep use updated.
