While many of us know quite a bit about these cars, it seems that Dean and Anders are the resident experts. I would take what they say above anything I suggest if we happen to differ in opinion.
That being said, my thoughts with fuel pressure, this being a wicked guess, is that after the car sits for a while fuel pressure drops causing a much longer starting time to get fuel into the TB and actually start the car. This would coincide with the car starting as the engine is getting warmer due to cranking and random firing. I don't know how you would diagnose this, though I am sure other would know.
As far as the ignition arcing, I thought it could be a potential cause and a very easy test to see if you have failing ignition wires.
Did you lubricate the IAC? Did you check your spark plug gap?
