I agree that much of the question of SAAB reliability rests on whether properly scheduled maintenance was done by the previous owner. I've heard older SAABs can be nightmares if not properly maintained. About a year and a half ago, I bought a 97 turbo convertible with 54k miles and love it. It now has 70k miles and I've had no problems with it, but I have put close to $1,000 into it since then: 65k scheduled tune up, new brakes and rotors, new air cabin filter, tires rotated and balanced, etc. SAAB are fun unique rides and relatively cheap to buy used, but make sure you get maintenance records and have a mechanic check it out before you buy, especially on high mileage ones. Otherwise, the car might be a money pit. Also, there seems to be a consensus on this site that the 97 and 98 years of the 900 NG are more reliable. Good luck!
