The shop vac gets the water out that you flush with, from the rad and the heater core. Read my other cooling system posts for nearly zero spill coolant draining. I am afraid to disturb the rad drain spigot incase it breaks or leaks later on. The rubber in it may be hardened.
Many folks use distilled water with the new coolant, not tap water.
If you ever want to do a Viggen IC in the future, put in the new style lower rad hose when doing this job.
Read my comments about small hose clamps and leaks.
Now is the time to replace the small U hose on the pump, and time for a new t-stat.
Replace the pump, not just the adapter o-rings. New pump should come with all the new o-ring that you will need, if from Saab. If aftermarket... ask.
