I got a plastic "fluid transfer pump", Mity Vac model #7240, $13 at Sears, otherwise basically followed Dean's instructions and did not spill much. Used a plastic tray to catch what did spill.
When I disconnected the upper rad hose, I plugged one end with a rubber stopper (30 cents at a local hardware store), and pumped coolant from the radiator into a couple empty 1 gallon water jugs. Since I have to do this at least one more time, 99% of the coolant went right back in when I was done.
My dealer charges $500 parts and labor for a waterpump... As an aside, although Sears is not my favorite place to buy tools, I could not help but notice they had a 21-inch jack on sale for around $70.
