I think we like the cars because they are a good combination of appealing factors. Other people feel just as strongly about their Beemers, Miatas, Mustangs...
How is a vacuum leak connected with impending turbo failure? And if it is, the T25 can be rebuilt very easily if you catch it before it goes out. I did not realize what was happening to mine, and ended up with a $1.9k bill instead of a few hundred (this included a new turbo, cleaning the exhaust, the O2 sensors, saving the cat which was full of oil from driving with a blown turbo seal...)
As for no return, why? You could sell/swap your ecu with someone who wants SQR and buy what you want. Monte Carlo yellow is a nice color for a Viggen! check with your insurance carrier first though, you might get a nasty surprise.
BPC's can often be cleaned with compressed air (that is what my mechanic did last year), but they do seem to have a finite life.
I think you can get a new cable made local for much less than $100. Personally, I would cut back and strip the old one and put in an extension with a new clamp, which is what I intend to do depending on how other things go with my save-the-Saab budget. Or try this guy, I've heard good things about him making custom cables for cars that need batteries relocated. I plan to use him if I decide to move the cable to the outside of the engine compartment:

If the ps lines only have surface corrosion and no leaks at the joints, you could take them off, paint them with POR-15 and some hi-temp engine paint, and put them back in.
I am not clear on what you are trying to do with the hoses btw. If I were just replacing the old elbow with a silicone one (cheap enough at $20-30 online), I would leave the upper hose alone, cut the old elbow off from underneath with a carpet knife or metal snips, then cut the clamps off (if you can't get access to the screws) and remove the remaining pieces.
I would not risk breaking the old IC tanks by wrestling with the upper hose. Mine cracked once already and had to be repaired with epoxy. Try a new thread about the elbow before you waste another afternoon, and explain what have now, compared to what you are trying to do, maybe someone will have a better idea. Same with the turbo.
